Many people assume a DUI arrest leads to one case with one outcome, but in California it usually leads to two. On DUI court versus DMV, the short answer is that a criminal court decides whether the state proves a crime, and the DMV decides whether to suspend or revoke the driving privilege. Each process has its own decision maker, issues and deadlines. A result in one does not automatically settle the other.
